Hello everyone! When making steamed pork ribs, most people usually cook them with a sweet flavor. This time, I'd like to share a different recipe from the usual one — a sour, salty, and spicy steamed pork ribs recipe that will make your mouth water.
Ingredients
- Pork ribs - 600 grams
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Cooking wine - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Spring onions - 2 stalks
- Chili powder - about half a tablespoon
- Corn starch - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 3 cloves
- Ripe chilies - 2 pieces
- Fermented black beans - 1 tablespoon
- A pinch of salt
- Bean paste - 1 tablespoon
- Water
Step-by-step instructions
(1) First, wash the pork ribs thoroughly and cut them into bite-sized pieces. Next, to boil the pork ribs, add about 3 cups of water into a pot and bring it to a boil. Once the water is boiling, add the pork ribs and boil for about 15 minutes. When white foam rises, skim it off with a spoon and continue boiling. Once the time is up, drain the pork ribs in a strainer.
(2) Next, transfer the drained pork ribs into a deep bowl. Then add 1 tablespoon of fish sauce, 1 tablespoon of cooking wine, 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, half a tablespoon of chili powder, 1 tablespoon of sugar, salt, 1 tablespoon of corn starch, and a little water to the pork ribs, mixing well so the flavors are absorbed.
(3) Next, add the finely chopped garlic and chilies. Then add 1 tablespoon of fermented black beans and mix again. To let the flavors soak into the meat, marinate the mixed pork ribs for about 30 minutes. While the pork ribs are marinating, prepare a steaming pot by adding about 3 cups of water and bringing it to a boil for steaming.
(4) Once the water is boiling, transfer the marinated pork ribs into a heatproof bowl, place it into the boiling pot, and steam for about 25 minutes. Once the time is up and the pork ribs are tender, remove them from the steamer, then drizzle a little sesame oil on top and garnish with thinly sliced chilies and spring onions. The sour, salty, and spicy steamed pork ribs are now ready to be served.
