One in five people commonly experience constipation. Constipation not only causes daily discomfort but can also be an underlying cause of many chronic diseases. Constipation typically occurs due to insufficient fiber intake, not drinking enough water, as well as excessive consumption of dry, cold, spicy, fried foods and fast foods, lack of sleep, eating dinner late, and sitting too much. Diabetes, thyroid issues, kidney problems, heart conditions, stroke, and spinal problems are also linked to constipation.

Raisins soaked overnight in water

Raisins are full of fiber, which greatly helps make bowel movements easier. Since dried foods can be harsh on the stomach, it's best to soak the raisins in water before eating them. Soaking them beforehand also makes them easier to digest.

Fenugreek seeds

You can soak 1 teaspoon of fenugreek seeds overnight and eat them early in the morning. Alternatively, you can pound the seeds into a powder and mix 1 teaspoon with warm water to drink before bed at night.

Amla (Indian gooseberry)

Amla is a natural laxative that can also help with weight loss, hair loss, premature graying, and other health issues. When eating amla, it's best to consume it early in the morning on an empty stomach. Depending on your preference, you can eat amla as a fruit or in powder form.

Cow's milk

Milk is a practical laxative for everyone, including children and the elderly, and can also be consumed by pregnant women. Drink a cup of warm milk before going to bed.
