Tamarind has health benefits, but on the other hand, it also has some drawbacks.
I'd like to share some of the downsides of tamarind as well.
1. Doesn't mix well with certain medications
If you are taking certain medications such as Aspirin, Non-Steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs), or Anti-platelet drugs, you should be careful when consuming tamarind.
If it doesn't agree with you, it can cause excessive bleeding.
2. Can cause allergies
People who are sensitive to tamarind may develop allergic reactions after eating it. Symptoms such as skin itching, hives, vomiting, fainting, and difficulty breathing can also occur.
3. Can harm tooth enamel
Tamarind contains a high amount of acid. Because of this, eating too much tamarind or holding it in your mouth for a long time can cause the acid to damage your tooth enamel.
4. Can cause stones to form
Indian researchers have found that consuming tamarind excessively can lead to the formation of stones in the gallbladder.
