When dust gets into your eyes, or small insects get in, your eyes tend to feel itchy. Whether it's because your vision is blurry, or because you've been working all day looking at a computer and phone, when your eyes feel strained and sore, I want to share some little methods for how you can give your eyes a rest.
Since these remedies can be made using ingredients already available in your kitchen, they are also inexpensive home remedies that will save you money.
Cucumber
You've probably seen in movies how people put cucumber slices on their eyes and lie down. If you place cucumber slices on your eyes, they will absorb the heat from them. In addition, cucumbers are rich in antioxidants that help relieve eye redness and inflammation.
Here's how to do it...
Cut the cucumber into round slices and soak them in ice water for about 10 minutes. Then close your eyes and place the slices on your eyelids for about 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, your eyes will feel cool and refreshed, and your vision will improve.
Tea bags
Whether it's black tea bags or green tea bags, the benefits are the same. The tannic acid found in tea has properties that can help treat itchy and red eyes. Steep the tea bags in hot water, and wait for the tea to settle. Then, once they have cooled down, simply place them on your eyes. This method is also useful for people with dark circles caused by lack of sleep.
Stay well hydrated
If your eyes feel like your vision is blurry and your eyesight seems unclear and strained, these are signs of dry eyes. When your eyes become dry like this, you need to drink plenty of water. This way, your eyes will become well hydrated and your eyesight will improve.
Potato
If you slice a potato into rounds and place them on your eyes for about 10 to 15 minutes, this will also cool your eyes and relieve redness and inflammation.
Warm milk and honey
Mix milk and honey in equal amounts and warm it slightly (you don't need to heat it until it's very hot). After stirring the milk and honey until well combined, dip a small cotton ball into the mixture and apply it to your closed eyelids. Then wait for about 10 minutes. It will draw out the heat from your eyes and help clear your vision.
