Some people like to have fried rice, mohinga, nan gyi thoke, or Shan noodles for breakfast, while others enjoy cakes, bread, samosas, or e-kya-kway paired with coffee or tea.
This time, I'd like to share a recipe for making chicken-stuffed samosas. I hope those who enjoy preparing and cooking their own food will like this.
Ingredients
- About 1 and a half bowls of wheat flour
- About half a cup of water
- About half a teaspoon of salt
- 7 tablespoons of butter (melted)
- 2 pieces of chicken breast
- Half an onion
- Half a teaspoon of finely sliced coriander
- Salt, ground pepper
- 1 egg (beaten)
- A little sesame seed
Step-by-step instructions
To prepare the wheat flour dough, mix the flour with water, sprinkle in a little salt, and knead it into a ball of dough like this.
Roll out the dough balls with a small rolling pin.
Once it's rolled out into a rectangular shape, brush the melted butter over it with a small brush.
After that, stack the two sheets of dough into one and roll them up tightly together.
Cover it with a piece of plastic wrap and let it chill in the refrigerator for about an hour.
During that time, prepare the chicken filling. Cut the chicken pieces into small cubes. Put the chicken cubes into a bowl, sprinkle in the onion, coriander, salt, and ground pepper, and mix well.
Take the rolled dough back out of the refrigerator and divide it into 8 rolls.
Then roll each piece out again into a circular shape.
Place the chicken filling right in the center of the circle.
Then, seal it closed in a pyramid shape.
Preheat the oven to 380 degrees Fahrenheit.
Then place the samosas face down onto the baking tray.
Brush the beaten egg over the samosas and sprinkle sesame seeds on top. After about 30 minutes in the oven, the samosas will turn golden brown.
Once done, you can enjoy the hot samosas with coffee or tea.
