Hello everyone! Every kind of food has its own unique taste, but for those who find their own Myanmar food tastier and more enjoyable, this time I'd like to share a Myanmar-style chicken and potato curry recipe.
If you eat chicken alone, the curry might not be enough, and the portion might feel too small, so let's try adding some potatoes to make it tastier and more filling.
Ingredients
- Chicken (leg or breast) – 1 kilogram
- Ginger – 1 thumb-sized piece
- Garlic – 2 large cloves
- Onion (sliced) – 3 pieces
- Lemon (juiced) – half a piece
- Turmeric – half a teaspoon
- Salt – 1 teaspoon
- Oil – 2 tablespoons
- Masala – 1 tablespoon
- Cumin seeds – 1 tablespoon
- Chili powder (green) – half a teaspoon
- Potatoes – 2 fairly large (cut into medium-sized pieces)
Preparation and Cooking Method
1. Marinate the chicken thoroughly with lemon, turmeric, salt, ginger, and garlic for a good while.
2. Place a pot on the stove, heat the oil, and fry the sliced onions until they turn slightly golden brown. Once they turn golden, add the cumin seeds, masala, and chili powder.
3. Fry for about 3 minutes. If the mixture seems dry, add a little water.
4. Add the marinated chicken and stir well so that everything is evenly coated. Reduce the heat slightly and let it simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally so it doesn't stick to the pot.
5. Taste it, and if it seems too bland, add a little fish sauce. Transfer it to the oven and let it cook for about 40 minutes, checking occasionally to make sure it doesn't dry out too much.
6. Once the time is up, take it out, add the potatoes, and cook for another 20 minutes.
Once it's done, you can enjoy it deliciously.
