Hello everyone! This time, the dish I'd like to share is a beef and potato dish. Instead of cooking it in Myanmar style, it's made in the form of a Western-style Pie.
Ingredients
- 1 lb potatoes (peeled and cut into quarters)
- 5 tablespoons cow's milk
- 4 tablespoons butter
- A little salt
- 1 onion (thinly sliced)
- 1½ tablespoons Ketchup
- 24 tablespoons chicken stock (or beef stock)
- A little coriander
- 1 lb beef (boiled until tender, then shredded)
- A little black pepper powder
Step-by-step instructions
1. Add water and a little salt to a pot. Once it comes to a boil, add the potato pieces and boil for about 10 to 20 minutes.
2. While the potatoes are boiling, put the milk and butter into a small saucepan and heat until warm.
3. Once the potatoes are cooked, remove them from the pot and drain the water. Then return the potatoes to the dry pot and heat it. Add the milk-butter mixture into the pot and mash the potatoes with a fork.
Then add salt and black pepper powder, and taste to check the seasoning. Once done, remove it from the stove.
4. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
5. Heat a saucepan and add 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the onions and stir until softened. Add the ketchup, chicken stock, and coriander, and heat until the stock reduces by about half.
Then add the beef and reduce the heat. Let it boil for about 3 to 4 minutes, then add salt and black pepper powder and taste to check the seasoning.
6. Pour the beef mixture into an oven-safe baking dish. Then spread the mashed potatoes over the top layer. (If you want it to taste even better, sprinkle a little cheese and breadcrumbs on top)
7. Put the baking dish into the preheated oven and bake for about 30 minutes.
And there you have it - a delicious bowl of beef and potato dish!
