Hello everyone. Rice is the main staple food of Myanmar people. But sometimes there are times when you don't feel like eating rice. For example, when you're feeling unwell or sick.
At times like that, it's necessary to eat nourishing soups. So this time, I'd like to share the recipe for making pork and potato soup.
Ingredients
- 5 potatoes (peeled and cut into medium-sized chunks)
- 60 grams butter
- 1 onion (thinly sliced)
- 1 large carrot (cut into small quarter-pieces)
- 1 stalk coriander (thinly sliced)
- 0.5 pounds pork (cut into small chunks)
- 4 cloves garlic (thinly sliced)
- 500 ml chicken stock
- Salt, ground pepper, and a little flour
- 750 ml milk
Step-by-step instructions
1. Heat a pot and add the butter. Once the butter has melted, add the onion, carrot, and coriander, and sauté for about 4 minutes.
2. Add the pork and potatoes, and stir for about 2 minutes. Add the garlic and stir for another 30 seconds.
3. Add the flour and stir for about 2 minutes.
4. Add the chicken stock and stir well until evenly mixed. Increase the heat and let it simmer for another 10 to 12 minutes. Check the potatoes with a fork to see if they are soft.
5. Once the potatoes are soft, reduce the heat from high to medium, then add the milk. Let it simmer for another 5 minutes.
6. Add salt and ground pepper, and taste to adjust the seasoning.
And finally, you'll have a delicious creamy pork and potato soup ready to enjoy.
