Known by various names such as cloud coffee or magic coffee that gives a magical taste, Dalgona coffee is a type of coffee that has become quite popular on social media pages in recent days. As for where this coffee-making method originated, it started in Korea. During quarantine, when people had to spend their time at home day after day and got bored, they started making this coffee.

From there, it became popular on social media platforms such as Facebook. The reason this coffee is called Dalgona coffee is because its taste resembles that of Korea's Dalgona candy.

For MyFood Myanmar's coffee lovers who are feeling bored while staying at home, we're sharing this recipe so you can make this coffee.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons instant coffee powder
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 4 tablespoons hot water
  • A small amount of milk

Step-by-step instructions

1. In a large bowl, add 4 tablespoons of coffee powder, 4 tablespoons of sugar, and 4 tablespoons of hot water. Then whisk it together using a hand mixer.

2. Gradually increase the speed step by step. You need to whisk until cream-shaped coffee bubbles form. This usually takes about 5 minutes. (If you don't have a hand mixer at home, you can also whisk it with a whisk used for beating eggs.)

3. Next, pour milk into the glass you'll be drinking the coffee from. Don't fill the glass completely with milk; fill it about 3/4 full. You can add ice cubes if you like, or leave them out.

4. Once done, pour the coffee cream you whisked earlier over the top of the milk. You'll see that the coffee cream doesn't mix into the milk, but instead floats on top of the milk in a cloud-like shape.

And there you have it, your Dalgona coffee is ready.

You can enjoy it together with wafers or bread.
