Hello everyone! This time, I'd like to share a recipe for braised beef shank with carrots.

Ingredients

  • About 3 viss of beef shank (cut into small pieces about 2.5 inches)
  • A little oil
  • 7 slices of ginger
  • A little Shaoxing wine
  • 3 tablespoons of light soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon of dark soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce
  • 3 star anise
  • 3 cloves
  • 3 bay leaves

  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 carrot, cut into small pieces
  • Chicken stock (or water) with a little cornstarch mixed in
  • Salt
  • A little spring onion

How to make

Bring water to a boil in a pot. Add the beef. Once the beef is parboiled, remove it and set aside for a moment.

Heat the pot, add oil, add the ginger, and stir for a moment. Once it becomes fragrant, add the beef, wine, light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, star anise, cloves, bay leaves, and sugar, and mix well.

Cover with the lid for a moment. Simmer on low heat for about 35 minutes. Once done, stir well.

Add the carrots.

Mix well, then cover with the lid again. Let it sit covered for about 10 minutes.

Afterwards, add the water (or chicken stock) mixed with cornstarch and stir for a moment. Add salt, then add the spring onion.

After that, let it come to a boil briefly, and you can enjoy it with hot white rice!
