While crispy fried tofu is tasty on its own, cooking it up with a bit of chili to make it spicy gives it an appetizing color as well as an even better flavor that you'll definitely want to try.
Ingredients
- Tofu 250 grams
- A little oil
To make the chili sauce
- Tomato sauce 3 tablespoons
- Chili powder 1 to 1½ tablespoons
- Soy sauce ½ tablespoon
- Honey ½ tablespoon
- Sesame oil 1 teaspoon
- Thinly sliced garlic 1 teaspoon
- A little sesame seeds (optional)
- Thinly sliced spring onion (optional)
Step-by-step instructions
In a large bowl, combine the tomato sauce, chili powder, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, and spring onion, then mix well until evenly combined.
Cut the tofu into small square pieces, then pat them dry with a clean cloth. Next, heat a pan and fry the tofu over medium heat. Fry each side for about 2 to 3 minutes. Once the tofu turns golden brown, transfer it to a plate.
Add the chili sauce you prepared earlier into the pan and stir over low heat for about 5 to 10 seconds. Then add the fried tofu and stir so that the sauce coats the tofu evenly. Sprinkle sesame seeds and spring onion on top, then stir again.
Transfer the finished spicy tofu onto a plate and enjoy it hot with rice for a delicious meal.
