Hello everyone! These days, we can see Korean traditional culture and food trending everywhere. Whenever they eat their food in movies, it's natural for food lovers to want to go out and try it themselves, right?
So today, I'd like to introduce a Korean-style candied sweet potato recipe for those who always want to have dessert after eating rice.
Ingredients
- Sweet potatoes – 500 grams
- Oil
- Nuts (or roasted sesame seeds) – a small amount
- Sugar – 3 tablespoons
Step-by-step Preparation
1. Wash the sweet potatoes, peel them, and cut them into medium-thin pieces. Soak them in cold water for about 30 minutes to remove the starchy residue.
2. After 30 minutes, drain the water and pat them dry with a paper towel.
3. To fry the sweet potatoes, pour plenty of oil into a large pot and heat it up. Once the oil is boiling, add the sweet potatoes and fry for 5 to 8 minutes until fully cooked.
4. Once the sweet potatoes are cooked, transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain the excess oil.
5. Set the sweet potatoes aside for a moment. In another flat pan, add 1 tablespoon of oil, and once it's hot, add the sugar. Let the sugar melt over medium heat, and once it has melted, lower the heat. Then add the sweet potatoes and stir well for 1 to 2 minutes to coat them evenly.
6. Transfer the sweet potatoes onto a paper towel and let them cool for about 5 minutes. Once they're no longer hot, sprinkle sesame seeds or chopped nuts on top, and you can enjoy them deliciously.
