These days, as soon as you head into town, you can spot Korean restaurants popping up all over the place. Some of these places serve tasty food, but others just don't have great cooking skills.
For foodies who easily get disappointed saying things like "this place is too salty" or "that place isn't quite right," try frying up Korean pancakes at home exactly the way you like them.
With just a few ingredients and a quick, easy method, you can enjoy this dish together with your family.
Ingredients
- Scallions (spring onions) – 5 stalks
- Wheat flour – 150 grams
- Baking soda – 1/4 teaspoon
- Baking powder – 1/4 teaspoon
- Water – 2/3 cup
Step-by-step preparation
1. Cut the scallions in half lengthwise down the middle and remove the tough root ends.
2. In a bowl, mix together the pancake flour, baking soda, baking powder, and water, stirring thoroughly until it forms a batter.
3. Heat oil in a flat pan, add the scallions as shown in the picture, and fry over medium heat for about 2 minutes.
4. Then, carefully pour the batter over the scallions so it covers them evenly. Cook over medium heat for 3-4 minutes.
5. Once the time is up, flip the pancake over, add a bit more oil, and cook for another 3-4 minutes. Keep flipping it back and forth until both sides are thoroughly cooked.
Once done, you can now enjoy this delicious Korean-style pancake.
