Let's cook up something unusual - a delicious chicken mala dish.
If you're tired of cooking the same old dishes, let's try something new and exciting with the currently trending mala sauce, mixed with potatoes that pair perfectly with it, to create a new flavor. The taste is just as good as what's sold in restaurants.
It's also simple to cook with few steps, and it's not expensive at all. For those who want to eat something spicy and tangy mala soup during the rainy season, this is exactly what you need. Everyone at home - dad, mom, siblings, husband, and children - is sure to love it.
Ingredients
- Chicken (boneless meat only) 200 grams
- Potatoes - 3
- Carrot - half of 1
- Cucumber - half of 1
- Garlic - 5 cloves
- Ginger - a small piece
- Mala paste - 1 packet
- Lettuce leaves - a little (for garnish)
- Coriander
Method
(1) First, cut the chicken into small pieces. Grind the ginger and garlic together and marinate the chicken with it.
(2) Slice the potatoes thinly and soak them in salted water for about half an hour to an hour. (The longer you soak them, the crispier and tastier the potatoes will be.)
(3) Add a little oil to a pot, then add 3 tablespoons of mala paste and heat it up.
(4) Then add the chicken and cook it. Add a little water to make it tender and cover the pot.
(5) Once the chicken becomes a bit tender, add the potatoes and heat through. Add a little water to cook the potatoes until tender. Add salt and chicken seasoning powder according to taste.
(6) Once both the potatoes and chicken are tender, sprinkle some coriander over it and remove from the stove.
(7) Arrange the lettuce leaves, coriander, cucumber, and carrot as shown in the picture for garnish. Place the chicken mala on top of the lettuce leaves. This will give you a delicious, tangy and spicy chicken mala dish.
Note:
The amount of mala paste can be adjusted based on how spicy and salty you can tolerate.
Mala paste is normally quite salty, and since the potatoes have already been soaked in salted water, do not add extra salt when cooking.
If you want it extra spicy and the mala paste isn't spicy enough, you can add chili powder or fresh chilies.
