For those who love fried chicken, this time we'd like to share a recipe for Malaysian style fried chicken that's a bit different from the usual fried chicken.
Ingredients
- Chicken leg/thigh 600 grams
- Garlic 2 cloves (finely chopped)
- Finely chopped ginger 1 teaspoon
- Onion 1 (thinly sliced)
- Fish sauce 4 tablespoons
- Oyster sauce 4 tablespoons
- Ground pepper 2 tablespoons
- Salt 2 teaspoons
- Brown sugar 1 tablespoon
- Oil for frying
Step by step preparation
1. In a blender or grinder, add the onion, garlic, and ginger, and blend until it becomes a paste.
2. Wash the chicken pieces with water and then pat them dry.
Then place the chicken pieces into a bowl. Mix well with the onion-garlic-ginger paste, ground pepper, clear fish sauce, oyster sauce, salt, and sugar. Then marinate for at least 2 hours. (Marinating overnight gives a better flavor)
3. Once the marinating time is up, add oil into a pot. When the oil is hot, add the chicken pieces and fry for about 6 to 8 minutes.
When the chicken pieces turn golden brown, take them out onto a plate.
Once all the chicken pieces are fried, your delicious Malaysian style fried chicken is ready.
