For good nutrition and health, it seems like eating the same rice and curry every single day has become tiresome.

Sometimes, when you don't feel like eating rice, you also need to eat something else that's nutritious instead. So, we'd like to share with you a recipe for a cheesy beef and potato stew that you can eat as a substitute for rice.

Ingredients

  • Beef 1.5 lb (cut into small cubes)
  • Butter 4 tablespoons
  • Onion 1 (thinly sliced)
  • Garlic 2 cloves (thinly sliced)
  • Wheat flour 32 grams

  • Potatoes 900 grams (peeled and cut into medium-sized cubes)
  • Milk 375 milliliters
  • Beef broth 750 milliliters
  • Cheese 200 grams
  • Coriander (cilantro) 225 grams (thinly sliced)

Step-by-step instructions

1. Heat the pot you'll use to cook the stew, then add one tablespoon of butter. Once the butter has melted, add the beef and stir. When the beef pieces have turned golden brown, transfer them to a plate.

2. In the same pot, add the remaining butter. Once the butter has melted, add the onions and sauté for about 10 minutes until softened. Add the garlic and stir for about 2 minutes. Then add the wheat flour and stir continuously for 3 to 5 minutes. After that, add the milk and beef broth, stirring well until smooth.

3. Next, add the cheese and let it simmer until melted. Once the cheese has melted, add the coriander, potatoes, and beef, cover with a lid, and let it simmer until it comes to a boil. It will take about 10 to 12 minutes for the potatoes to become soft.

4. Once the potatoes have softened, taste and adjust the seasoning to your liking. Finally, you'll have a delicious beef and potato stew with a lovely aroma of cheese.

Whether you drink it as a stew on its own, it will be nutritious, and if you pair it with rice, it also goes well together.
