Among the side dishes we always enjoy ordering whenever we eat at Korean restaurants, one favorite is this simple spinach salad side dish.
One thing worth mentioning here is that while some Korean restaurants use tender leafy greens, others use spinach leaves. Since the taste and nutritional value aren't very different, you can use whatever leafy green is easily available to you.
Ingredients
- 250 grams Spinach leaves
- Half of 1 teaspoon pounded garlic
- 1/4 of 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
Method
Wash the spinach leaves with cold water.
Boil water in a pot for about 5 minutes until it comes to a rolling boil. Add the salt (1 teaspoon). Once the water starts boiling, add the spinach leaves into the pot and boil for about 30 seconds.
Drain the water and wash the spinach leaves with cold water for about 1 to 2 minutes.
Squeeze the spinach leaves with your hands to drain out the water.
Cut the spinach leaves into 2 or 3 pieces with a knife.
Add the garlic, sea salt, sesame seeds, and sesame oil, then mix together with your hands.
And there you have it, a delicious Korean-style spinach salad!
