Hello everyone! I'd like to share an easy homemade recipe for steamed shrimp and pork dumplings (Fak Htote) for those who want to make dumplings at home.

Ingredients

  • 3 pieces dried Chinese mushrooms
  • 6 oz shrimp (peeled)
  • 1 stalk spring onion
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped ginger
  • 170 grams pork (finely chopped)

  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Shaoxing wine
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • About 20 round wheat wrappers for wrapping the dumplings

Step-by-step instructions

1. Soak the dried mushrooms in hot water for about 20 to 30 minutes. Once soaked, cut off and discard the stems.

2. Soak the shrimp in warm water with a little salt for about 5 minutes, then pat dry.

3. Thinly slice the mushrooms, shrimp, and spring onion. Then add the ginger and pork and mix together evenly. Add the oyster sauce, Shaoxing wine, sesame oil, and sugar, and mix again thoroughly.

4. Brush water along the edges of the dumpling wrappers.

5. Place about 2 to 3 teaspoons of the prepared shrimp and pork filling in the center of each wrapper. Gather the edges of the wrapper upward and shape it into a basket-like form.

6. Line the steamer with oil-absorbent paper or a cabbage leaf, then place the dumplings inside. Steam them in the steamer for about 5 to 10 minutes.

Once the steaming time is up, your delicious shrimp and pork steamed dumplings (Fak Htote) are ready to enjoy.
