It's plain to always just fry tofu the same way. Sometimes it's more enjoyable to try making something new and different. This time, we're sharing a way to make sweet and sour tofu with vegetables to give it more flavor. For those who like it spicy, we'll also add a bit of spiciness to the flavor. Note that the tofu used here isn't the Myanmar yellow tofu. You can also substitute bean curd sheets in place of tofu.
First, cut 2 blocks of tofu into small cubes. Once cut, transfer them into a bowl.
Into the bowl with the tofu, add 3 tablespoons of wheat flour, half a teaspoon of Black Pepper, and a little salt. Since the tofu is soft, it will break apart if kneaded by hand, so just shake the bowl to mix it evenly. Then, gently stir it with a spoon.
Add 2 tablespoons of oil into a pot. Then add the coated tofu cubes and fry them. Don't fry them until they're overly crispy. Fry for about 5 minutes until the color changes slightly, and that's enough. Once fried, scoop them out into a plate.
Add another 2 tablespoons of oil into the pot. Add 1 tablespoon of finely chopped ginger and 1 tablespoon of finely chopped garlic, and stir for about 30 seconds.
Add a little chopped spring onion and a little chopped onion, and stir. Also add a little chopped Broccoli and a little chopped bell pepper, and stir.
Add 1 teaspoon of chili powder, 2 tablespoons of Ketchup sauce, 1 tablespoon of Chilli sauce, 2 tablespoons of fish sauce, 1 teaspoon of vinegar, 2 tablespoons of honey, and half a teaspoon of salt, and stir.
As soon as you've stirred it, add the tofu that was fried earlier and stir it in. Once it's mixed evenly, add a bit more spring onion and stir again.
After stirring for a short while, it's ready, so you can transfer it onto a plate and enjoy it with rice right away. And there you have it — a delicious, slightly spicy fried tofu dish, all done!
