Hello everyone! This time, I'd like to share a recipe for Rösti, a traditional dish of the Swiss people, made from fried grated potatoes. This potato cake can be eaten as a snack, or served as a side dish with rice.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium-sized potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • A little salt
  • A little black pepper

Step-by-step instructions

Peel the 4 potatoes and grate them with a grater to get fine potato shreds.

Strain the liquid from the grated potato shreds using a clean cloth. Place the potato shreds in the center of the cloth, wrap it up, and squeeze out the liquid.

In a pot, melt a block of butter until it becomes liquid. Then, place the potatoes in a large bowl. Add the melted butter, salt, and black pepper, and mix evenly.

Next, heat a large non-stick pan over medium heat. Add oil, and once the oil is hot, spread the mixed potato shreds into the pan. Fry over medium heat for about 5 to 7 minutes.

Once the potato cake turns golden brown, flip it over using a large flat spatula and continue frying for another 5 to 7 minutes.

Then, cut the potato cake into equal portions, place them on a plate, and serve with tomato sauce or chili sauce. This Rösti can be enjoyed as a snack, or served as a side dish with rice.
