A look at our visit to the restaurant

This is a restaurant that made the list as one of the best restaurants in Yangon (Myanmore Dining and Nightlife Awards 2018 Top 100 List). It's also the only Mediterranean restaurant in Yangon, so it's definitely not one to miss. Being near Dagon No. 1 School, it's easy to find and located right in the city, which makes it very convenient. Mediterranean food is distinctively different from other cuisines around the world, making it a type of food that people of any nationality tend to enjoy.

What's even more special is that the dishes are cooked fresh, and almost every dish is particularly aligned with health-consciousness. Since the dishes are prepared by chefs trained by foreign chefs themselves, the craftsmanship is impeccable, and the prices are also quite reasonable. Another convenient thing for everyone is that the food at Prime Grill can be eaten by people of any race or religion.

Location and decor

The restaurant is located right on Novade Street. As soon as you pass by on the street, the restaurant's façade, with its decor and colors, is designed to stand out as a must-visit place. Once you step inside, you'll find yourself saying "Wow, this is amazing," and it will truly take your breath away. The colorful color choices and the lighting arrangement make it so cozy that once you enter, you won't want to leave.

Food

The first thing we tried was the "Carrot Soup." The restaurant manager explained that it's one of the most popular dishes — a simple yet nutritious soup. Its taste is extremely smooth and creamy, unlike the usual soups we're used to. Being very fresh, it's genuinely enjoyable.

With its gorgeous purple hue, the next dish is the "Moroccan Beetroot Salad," which you won't find at any other restaurant yet. It's extremely fresh, good for health, and a salad that boosts blood circulation. It may not perfectly suit the Myanmar palate, but for those who want to try new and unusual flavors, it's just right. The 7 Ingredients Salad, which is specially combined with 7 types of vegetables, is also very fresh and, being made with Feta Cheese, is quite palatable.

"Lemon Herb Mediterranean Chicken and Potato"

This dish is quite interesting. The chicken is cooked together with potatoes and lemon essence, and the seasonings used are truly authentic. Both the aroma and the taste are unique, making it a novel experience we hadn't encountered before. As for the best-selling dish, the "Shawarma Wrap," it's great whether you want it for lunch or dinner. It's filled with a complete variety of ingredients inside, with french fries placed on the side. Mixed with the Lemon Sauce, the spicy-tangy balance is just perfect.

The fish dish called "Moroccan Fish" served with rice is somewhat similar to Myanmar flavors. However, it's fresher to eat, and since it uses Mediterranean ingredients, it still feels novel. The "Appetizer Platter" combines famous Mediterranean appetizers together.

For dessert, you can also get the Malabi dessert, which isn't available at other restaurants in Yangon yet. It's sweet and sour, and eating it together with the reddish-purple topping on top is truly delightful. This recipe is said to date back to the 17th century. It's a dessert named after a Persian cook who served it to the Arab general al-Muhallab bin Abi Sufra, who loved it so much that it came to be named after him.

When it comes to drinks, you'll find a wide variety available. Among them all, the Moroccan Mint Tea stands out as something special. Even the cups and glasses used are authentic Mediterranean-style cups, so photos taken with them have a wonderfully vintage look. The Lemonade Mint drink, which is refreshing and quenches thirst, is also a great choice.

With such a diverse and unique range of dishes, along with a beautiful and elegant setting, we'd like to recommend visiting Prime Grill Mediterranean Restaurant — the only one of its kind in Yangon — whether with family or friends, for those who want to spend quality time together.
